With the arrival of warm weather, the early vegetation starts to awaken. Many plants require constant maintenance, and you have to know the right pruning time for each of them. For most plants, the ideal pruning time is late winter or early spring. Others grow new blossoms right after the old ones fall off, so they require pruning immediately after blossoming. If not, there is a risk of cutting the new blossoms together with the old ones. Finally, some plants need constant pruning. If you choose a bad time for doing this, it may result in smaller amount of fruit and flower, but it usually won’t cause a permanent damage.

Before starting, the first thing to consider choosing the adequate tool. Basically, there are four types of hand tools which can be used to prune most of the plats, and those are:

  • Pruners;
  • Loppers;
  • Hedge shares;
  • Pruning saws.
