(VIDEO) Compressors

Compressors have very wide range of use - you can find them at the nearby gas station or at big manufacturing plants. They are more and more used in home workshops, basements and garages. Models are suitable for various tasks, like inflating pool accessories, to pneumatic drills, sanders, staplers, etc.

How does compressor work?

First, compressor forces more and more air into a storage tank, increasing the pressure. When tank pressure reaches its upper limit the device shuts off. The compressed air, then, is held in the tank until called into use. When tank pressure reaches its lower limit, the air compressor turns on again and re-pressurizes the tank.

One of advantages when using compressors is that tools don't need their own motors. Instead, compressor's motor turns electric energy into kinetic. That makes the tools run quietly, with a reduced risk of their parts wearing out. Even 70% of manufacturers use compressed air system. Main reasons are safety and convenience of using air as a resource, as opposed to other energy sources such as electricity. An air compressor can also function at high temperatures and in locations where explosions and fire hazards restrict other forms of energy. Also, compressors can run tools and equipment that generate more power than normal tools.
