(VIDEO) Do It Yourself: Decoupage

20.11.2015

Decoupage is the art of decorating objects by gluing colored paper on them. This technique dates back to Ancient China and Japan. The word comes from the French decouper, meaning to cut out. Decoupage was practiced by famous Picasso and Matisse!

Decoupage gives you countless interesting possibilities for decorating objects made of wood, glass, cardboard, and it is excellent for refreshing old furniture as well. With very little resources you can make unique items. Apart from that, the technique is learned easily and fast, and, what's even more important - it is extremely entertaining.

First step in decoupage is gluing cut out papers or napkins to objects that you want to decorate. The surface should then be covered with another layer of glue. This makes decoupage very convincing and attractive - decorated objects makes us believe the paper is not glued to them, but painted on them.

We have everything you need for decoupage and in the video we prepared our colleague will tell you more about this technique, show you what you need and give you a couple of decoration suggestions.
